Veneers

Dental veneers have emerged as a transformative cosmetic dentistry solution, providing individuals with the smiles they have always dreamed of.

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth and can correct many dental issues, including chipped, stained, misaligned, worn down, or uneven teeth. At Dr. Marie A. Holliday, DMD, dental veneers are a popular cosmetic dentistry option, capable of transforming smiles in a remarkably natural and stunning way.

The Procedure for Dental Veneers

The veneer procedure usually requires two visits to complete. During the first visit, the dentist lightly buffs the tooth surface to remove about a half millimeter of the enamel so the veneer will not appear bulky when placed over the tooth. Then, an impression is taken and sent to the lab for fabrication.

A temporary veneer may be placed on the tooth while the final veneer is crafted. The temporary veneer is removed during the second appointment, and the permanent one is secured with dental cement. Our dentist will check the fit and make any necessary adjustments before permanently cementing it.

After your veneers are placed, it is essential to maintain good oral hygiene. Brushing and flossing regularly will help keep your teeth healthy and clean. It is also vital to avoid biting your nails, chewing on pens or ice, grinding your teeth, or using your teeth to open packages, as these actions can damage your veneers.

The Benefits of Dental Veneers

Enhanced Aesthetics

Veneers can transform the appearance of teeth dramatically. They are an excellent solution for teeth that are discolored, stained, chipped, cracked, misaligned, or have gaps between them. Veneers can create a bright, even, and natural-looking smile.

Natural Appearance

Porcelain veneers, in particular, have a translucent quality that closely resembles natural tooth enamel. This means they reflect light similarly to real teeth, resulting in a natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Stain Resistance

Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to stains caused by coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco products, making them a durable and long-lasting solution for maintaining a white smile.

Minimally Invasive

In cases of minimal tooth preparation or "no-prep" veneers, where little to no enamel needs to be removed, the procedure is virtually painless and often requires little or no anesthesia.

Dental veneers offer many advantages for those seeking to improve their smile's aesthetics and overall appearance. With their natural look, stain resistance, and long-lasting results, veneers are a popular and effective solution for transforming smiles and boosting self-confidence.
